Welcome to JaniceRutherford.ca. My name is Janice Rutherford, and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a Notary Public in and for the Province of British Columbia. I bring to this profession a background of diverse experiences.
I was born in Toronto and moved to British Columbia in my teens. I graduated from Centennial Senior Secondary in Coquitlam and went straight to Simon Fraser University. At SFU I completed the first two years of my undergraduate degree and the Professional Development Program to qualify for a British Columbia Teaching Certificate.
I taught elementary school in the Prince George School District before taking time to raise my family. During the years when I was a full time Mom, I had the chance to live in the far north of this beautiful province as well as on the shores of the Shuswap Lake.
My family settled into Kamloops and I returned to my teaching career and finished my Bachelor of General Studies degree from Simon Fraser University. Since that time I have taught in the areas of special education and elementary to junior high math and reading. When I wasn’t teaching in the school setting I also taught music at my private music studio. During this time I was also co-owner and office administrator of a successful engineering consulting firm.
In 2009 I was commissioned as a Notary Public and opened Janice W. Grunert Notary Public Inc. (now Janice Rutherford Notary Public Inc.) on May 9 of that year.
In May 2013 I received my Master of Arts in Applied Legal Studies from Simon Fraser University.
I love what I do! The people I have the privilege of assisting and the constantly new and interesting challenges that come with work of a BC Notary make this a rewarding and exciting career.
I invite you to visit my office at 201B-1150 Hillside Drive in Kamloops British Columbia.
